Can you file your down payment on a car/truck on your income tax return?

I heard that if you put down a down payment on a car/truck and that if you file for it on your income taxes then you can get that amount back. Is there any truth to that? Thanks for you answers.

No. Generally only business use of a vehicle qualifies as a deduction. Even in that case, it doesn’t matter how much you put down versus how much you finance. There are some additional specialized provisions for hybrid and electrical vehicles that are for personal use. But again, it doesn’t matter how much of the purchase was financed.
