Did you notice that during the later years of The Beatles and solo years, John and George kind of got skinny?

George looked very skinny and so did John. They got skinny around the later years and they stayed skinny in the solo years. Why do you think that was? I mean Paul and Ringo looked fit and healthy but it’s just George and John that kind of lost some weight.

George was always skinny, he ate and ate and ate but looked like a stick.
I think John was skinnier during his later years because of a lot of reasons, listed here:
- He felt very overweight and self conscious during the release of Help!, and he didn’t want to go down that road again.
- He was stressed because of the criticism over Yoko.
- He was extremely depressed when he learned in his later years that he would not be able to have children because his past drug abuse had made it impossible (he would later take advice from a Japanese man to eat good food and stay away from drugs for a year and then he would have a child, which he did, Sean).
- He was depressed over Yoko’s countless miscarriages with his children.
And I don’t know, maybe he just got naturally skinny during his later years, but I would bet it had something to do with his depression.
