What are the similarities and difference of Palestine during the time of Jesus Christ and Philippines today?

Actually there was no Palestine in the days of Jesus.
The area of land that is now Israel and the west bank was called Judea and Samaria.
Judea and Samaria were under the domination of the all powerful Roman Empire..it was a bit like it was for the Philippines during WW2 when the Japanese invaded the country.
People were pernitted to go about their business…but the slightest hint of rebelion brought a crushing response from the Romans…..just like the Japanese.
There was some commerce and a lot of subsistance farming like the Philippines.
Most people in Jesus time were very entangled in politics and religion…just like the Philippines.
The main religions were based on the Old testiment, because as yet there was no New testiment.
There were numerous sects of Judaism..just like the Philippines today where the Catholic Church is dominant, but there are also Mormons and different evangelical sects.
There was a lot of poverty and disease in Jesus time similar to the Philippines.
So…to sum up….although Judea and Samaria had many similarities with the modern Philippines there are also a lot of cultural differances.
In Jesus time women were respected but in a lot of ways considered second class citizens. In my opinion it is the women of the Philippines that hold the country together. The men think they run the show…but it is actually the women who are the strength of Philippine society.
