What is an appropriate school good book that would lead to a debate?
I am a college professor who seek to read fiction or a history of such "non-fiction book" that will lead to a class discussion. We have entered a debate on the death penalty last week for meetings notebook on the appropriate punishment would be a possibility. In fact the new ideas that would be appropriate, then we could have a further discussion would be great.
The Giver by Lois Lowry. A large number of dystopian concepts in it. The idea of euthanasia would be a great debate. The recording journals by Brent Runyon … accurate account of his attempt suicide by setting fire. Brent tells the story of his recovery. Tuck Everlasting by Natalie Babbitt could cause an interesting debate on the pros and cons of immortality. The face on the milk carton by Caroline B. Cooney Janie wakes up from his normal suburban life when he discovers that his picture appears as a lost child a carton of milk. Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card … futuristic dystopian society where children are sent to Battle School to defeat an alien threat. The death penalty for teenagers in Nancy Day …. This is a preview of the death penalty, but also criminals enphasized adolescence. There's always time to kill, John Grisham … but perhaps not entirely appropriate for students in grade 8 …. is the trial of a man accused of killing the men who raped her daughter.
