Are stop signs in parking lots in Wisconsin enforceable?

I have been looking online and cannot find the answer. Does anyone know if stop signs in grocery stores, shopping centers, department stores, etc are enforceable?

By state law, they are not enforceable. That is covered under State Statute 346.02(1).

However, they may be covered under local ordinance. As long as the municipal government recognizes the signs, you can still be held accountable. In these cases, you are issued an ordinance violation. Because it is not a state law, the violation does not get reported to the DMV, so it does not show on your driving record nor is it available to insurance companies.

Another consideration is other laws that may apply. In Wisconsin, there are three moving violations that can be enforced in private parking lots as long as they are open to the public. They are reckless driving, hit and run, and drunk driving. Therefore, if you run a stop sign at a high rate of speed, or hit a car after running a stop sign, you can still get a ticket for reckless driving. Reckless and drunk are covered under 346.61, accidents under 346.66
