Para / Kindergarten Teachers Preschool: What would you do if your child is misbehaving?

Do you punish? scold them? I want to know if this question was asked during the interview for this school teaching position pre … I thought that if a student behaves probably would be wrong to give them a timeout … What do you think of teachers? Thanks for any help ..

I have been teaching young children during twenty years. We use a variety of techniques for behavior management. Here are some of them: Close control: This is the strategy more behavior management easy, and works almost all the time. proximity control means to get where the action is. Sit on the floor or a table with the children. Play with them or engage them in conversation. Often, just having a teacher by avoiding problems before you even start:. Modeling Children learn by watching us to always think about what you do in the classroom. If you want your voice minor children, then make sure not to scream. If you want your children to be courteous to others, you also need be educated. Sometimes distraction can counter inappropriate behavior before it becomes out of control, suggesting another activity. This is especially effective with children small. Redirection of this distraction, redirection of the work, taking the approach and replace inappropriate behavior with positive behavior. The difference is that the redirection is actually moving the child to another area of the room. For example, if two children are fighting to see who can draw on the block pad, can help a child find an alternative space to build limited. If a child is choosing to have a hard time controlling his own behavior, we can help provide more structured choice. This is particularly useful if the child seems to be excited or stimulated by activity in the classroom. Make sure the child always has at least three options to pursue. (For example, "I will help to calm down a little. At this point, you can choose to draw, read books or easel painting:. "Time alone Sometimes a child has an extreme amount of difficulty controlling their behavior and need to separate children from other people for a short period of time. This is usually done only when there is a threat of danger to the child, another person or team. If you need to remove a child by a short time, find a place where he or she can be alone (in view of a teacher) and give the child something to do. Never use the "dead time" as a punishment. Our time-out is a way for the child to calm down and regain control. We should not have a child sitting alone for more than 3-5 minutes for this group of age: the logic. Consequences Sometimes it is desirable to provide a negative consequence of a behavior. If you decide to use as a result of a technique of behavior management, There are two things to remember: 1. The result still has to be logical. This means you have to give meaning to the child. If a child turns the tower from a friend, it makes sense they are helping to rebuild the tower. It makes no sense for that child to waste time later, the gym that day. 2. The consequence should occur as soon as possible after the behavior. Even our grown children can not always remember what they did two or three hours earlier. Family Support: We talk to families of children their conduct on a regular basis. Not for us "gossip" for parents about what happened during the day. Rather, it is important that children understand there is a link between school and home, and that the family and teachers are a team. Hope this helps! Good luck interview.
