Xbox 360 elite dependable?

Sup, I’ve heard a lot of stuff about the xbox 360, some good, some bad. I don’t know what to believe. I heard that 3 out of 10 get the dreaded “Ring of Death”. So i don’t know whether i should get one or not. And if it does get it, can you get it repaired without getting charged A lot, and what’s a way to prevent this from happening?? Any help would be great, Thanks!

There are a lot of problems with the 360 but it is the best console in my own opinion. I have tried the PS3 and Wii but the Xbox just seems better to me.

I originally had a Xbox 360 premium and that lasted several months past its warrenty and then it died with the RROD. As it was the 3 red lights it fell under an extended 3 year warrenty and I contacted Microsoft and then they told me to send it to them to be repaired in Germany (i live in England so Germany is the nearest repair centre). I didnt have to pay for the postage or the repair.

I also had a second Xbox which was the 360 Elite and that got the E74 error and that had to go back as well though that was still in the original warrenty.

You only have to pay for the repair if it is not in warrenty or if you have voided the warrenty by opening the xbox. The normal warrenty is 1 year but for the 3 red lights RROD it is extended to 3 years
