Somebody’s getting butthurt over the Swiss Flag. What does the plus sign in the middle stand for?

Believe it or not, I never saw that white cross as a “religious cross” until it came up in an issue on FB tonight. What does it represent?

Um, many European flags have a cross. What’s the big beef? It is because at one time they were under the control of the Church (aka Rome). Some have done away with them, and some have not. And the Swiss flag is not a “plus sign” it is a cross. It is just that generally the crosses tend to be asymmetrical because a cross signifies Jesus’s Crucifixion, and generally, humans’ legs are longer than their arms.

But every single Scandinavian flag is a cross, and even the English flag, (not the British flag – but the flag of England – it is white with a red cross) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flag_of_England

In fact England’s flag looks just like Switzerland’s except it’s more asymmetrical. So what is the point of getting pissy when it symbolizes where they came from. Not who they may be today, but it does symbolize their history, and there is nothing wrong with that.
