What all goes on during a hearing evaluation for a speech delay?
My two year is scheduled for a hearing evaluation this week per recommendation from the pediatrician. His speech evaluation is scheduled for next month. Anyone out there know what all is going to go on at this appointment. The doctor is not worried about his hearing but said it has to be done as part of the process. Thanks!
My little girl was about a year & a half when I took her in to have her hearing tested. They had us in the sound proof booth as well and also had her sit on my lap, with my husband across from us facing her. (She was facing him.) They had big speakers in each corner of the booth so one was on her right side, the other on her left. They asked my husband to talk to her, had books & toys etc to hold her attention. The lady would then say something so it only came from one speaker at a time and watched my daughter to see if she turned her head towards wherever the noise was coming from. They would whisper & play tones etc to see how well she was hearing.
I was very worried about how it would go because my little girl is not one to sit still for long & obviously too young to follow detailed instructions. It was very easy & went great. Good luck!!

My intention is to try and offer a little something of interest for everyone who may drop by -- in fact, no one should be able to arrive on this website and find nothing whatsoever that catches their notice. And should anyone feel like posting a comment -- why, all the better!
