Why do job applications have a checkbox that asks if you were ever terminated/discharged?

What is the point of this? If I quit a job by not showing and gave no notice, does this count as ‘”termination”? Is it considered being “discharged”?

It makes you tell the truth. Most applicants would prefer to avoid the question and the box does not let you avoid it. If you quit, write down that you quit. No one likes every job they have. Otherwise we would all work for 30 years at the same company..
