Can an unlocked Motorola RIZR Z3 from TMobile be used on the Verizon network? How do I get it connected?

I have a Motorola RIZR Z3 that was connected and sold by TMobile. I would like to use it with my new service (Verizon). Will the phone work with Verizon? If it does, how do I get it connected?

Actually some Verizon phones have both CDMA and GSM technology. In those phones you would possibly be able to use your T-Mobile SIM but you would have to have both a Verizon account to use the CDMA and a T-Mobile account to use the GSM portion of the phone. However since you have a RIZR phone that doesn’t have CDMA technology you won’t be able to use it. Verizon is actually partially owned by Vodafone which is a European GSM company.

Anyway, I’m sure there is somewhere online that you could sell your phone and use the money towards the purchase of a new Verizon phone. Otherwise you can get your phone unlocked and use it with AT&T.

If you want to go with Verizon and you like the RIZR, try the Z6c as it is a dual technology phone or the Z6tv.

Please note that RIZR’s can be either GSM or CDMA. Make sure you look at the model number specifically. A look a like to the RIZR is the ROKR Z6m with US Cellular and Alltel. Alltel will soon become part of Verizon… And who knows maybe T-Mobile will buy Sprint-Nextel.
